This private class conducted in English offers more than just a wine tasting — it’s a preview of the diverse regions you’re about to discover. Day 2: San Gimignano & Vernaccia wine
Sounds like an amazing day ahead! Departure at 9am to the hilltown of San Gimignano, with a delightful stop at a pecorino cheese dairy, the most traditional Tuscan cheese. Short guided visit and cheese tasting included! After exploring the medieval charm of San Gimignano, it’s off to a family-run winery. The Vernaccia stands out among the top wines of Tuscany, being the region’s only white wine to have reached the lofty heights of DOCG status. Long before its DOCG promotion (in 1993) its renown was well established; it was among the very first wines officially classified when Italy introduced the DOC system in 1966. Enjoy a superb lunch combined with the best selection of the local wines including some nice reds. Finally, a scenic journey back to Florence by 4pm. A day filled with medieval wonders, culinary delights and the best of Tuscan white wines.
Day 3: Montepulciano & Vino Nobile
Fantastic plan! Departing from the hotel at 9am for another great medieval gem: Montepulciano, the land of “Noble wine” made with the renowned Sangiovese grape…the king of Tuscan wine grapes! The charming medieval hilltop town promises a picturesque backdrop for your wine exploration. Get ready for a day of discovery, indulging in the wonderful, warming reds of the region. Two wineries are on the agenda, each offering a unique taste of Tuscan viticulture. With lunch at one of these wineries, you’re in for a treat! A vinous journey awaits, and by 4pm you’ll be back in Florence, enriched with the flavors and memories of the day. Cheers to your first encounter with Tuscany’s famous reds!
Day 4: Chianti Classico
Chianti Classico, here we come! Departure from the hotel at 9am, embarking on a journey through Tuscany’s oldest geographical wine region. The steep hills offer a firsthand look at grape growing in the vineyards. The morning takes us to a historical castle, the cradle of Chianti Classico, for a brief but delightful tasting. Lunch awaits at the renowned butcher in Panzano, Dario Cecchini, promising a meat-tasting extravaganza! In the afternoon, a visit to a small family-owned winery unfolds stories of Chianti’s winemaking traditions, accompanied by more lovely tastings. By 4pm, we’ll be back in Florence, savoring the memories of a day filled with Chianti Classico’s charm and flavors.
Day 5: Montalcino & Brunello
Saving the best for last—Montalcino & Brunello! Leave at 9am for Val D’ Orcia to unravel the unique charm of Brunello wine. Explore today two top-rated boutique wineries, making insightful comparisons between the regions and their exquisite wines. Lunch at one of the wineries sets the stage for a delightful afternoon.
